Vegas

“Bandit,” I laughed. “Why are we leaving the bar?”

We hadn’t been back to the penthouse, but I had slipped into a pair of shiny black fashion sneakers that Booker had tossed me. I had thrown my arms around him with gratitude as I had changed into them in a local bar.

As we stood on the street end, he pointed toward the massive Ferris wheel that sat across the street. Kodiak had already shouted his “be careful” so I found my slight buzz taking on a full-steam excitement. Bandit offered me a smile that made my toes curl as the two of us made our way toward the metal beast.

The truth was, I had missed spending time with Bandit. Actually, I had missed quality time with all my boys. Our life in the past week had taken the fast lane to crazy town. Literally. We had jumped right down the rabbit hole into madness, insanity, and being unhinged. Honestly, going to ride a Ferris wheel with my best friend, now boyfriend, was absolutely perfect.

“How many?” The tenant asked as I bounced on my toes. Bandit had his wallet out and paid for two tickets. He had left his suit jacket at the bar and now wore a blue silk shirt untucked and skinny suit pants. He looked fantastic.

“We ready?” He asked with a boyish smile. I nodded and joined his hand as we strode toward the entrance. I had never been so excited about something so simple.

Our hands were combined as they let us into the small pod. It seemed to be just the two of us, and I relished that. I went to kneel on the cushioned bench as I pressed myself toward the glass. Bandit chuckled and joined me with a big grin on his face. I could tell he was relieved to be out of the big crowds.

“I didn’t even know they had a Ferris wheel in Las Vegas,” I commented.

He nodded, “I couldn’t sleep on the plane ride over, so I did some research in case we had extra time.”

I grinned. “Find anything else useful?”

He shook his head. “Not particularly, but I figured it was a good time to give you either a late birthday present or super early Christmas present.”

The Ferris wheel was starting to move, and I instinctively moved closer to him, his arm slipping around me. We both were turned to see the massive Las Vegas strip shrink around us. I was entirely focused on Bandit.

The man had a present for me.

“What is it?” I tilted my head in curiosity.

“So, you know how Members Red broke up after their guitarist split?” He asked with a small smile.

I sighed despondently. It had easily been one of the saddest days of my life. Their guitarist, apparently a piece of work, had left them to hang right before going on tour. The new age indie band was one of our favorites.

“Yes,” I nodded with a small pout. “It’s hard to forget such a tragedy.”

His eyes sparkled, “So, you haven’t heard then?”

My brow furrowed as the sparkling strip grew even smaller.
